The Broward Boulevard Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) study was recognized with the ACEC-FL & FDOT 2020 Outstanding PD&E/Planning Project Award. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL) annually recognizes outstanding achievements by its members in accomplishing Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) studies and projects. This PD&E project studied the system linkage, modal interrelationships, transportation demand, and capacity of SR 5/I-95 at SR 842/Broward Blvd. from west of SW 24th Ave. to E of NW/SW 18th Ave. for FDOT D4.
As a subconsultant, BPA provided bridge concept designs for three viable alternative alignments to increase the level of service for the I-95 Interchange at Broward Blvd. The bridges included Broward Blvd. over I-95 and Broward Blvd. over the SCL Railroad tracks and access road to the Park and Ride Facility. In addition to increasing the levels of service, the bridge structure over the access road to the Park and Ride Facility included provisions for a bus terminal below with vertical access to the bridge median above, enhancing the system linkage and modal interrelationships at I-95 and Broward Blvd. The Broward Blvd. PD&E study was compatible with the proposed I-95 Express Lanes improvements Phase 3 and 3A, and evaluated comprehensive improvements to the surrounding multimodal facilities.
