History


1997. NETWORK ENGINEERING SERVICES IS FOUNDED
Joaquin (Jake) Perez, PE, and John W. Bolton, PE, open Network Engineering Services, Inc. (NES) in Coral Gables, FL, a small business firm providing civil engineering services across the South Florida region. Jake serves as the Director of Design Services, while John serves as the Director of Construction Services.


1999. NORTH ROOSEVELT BLVD. WALLS DESIGN BEGINS
NES wins work on first Florida Dept. of Transportation (FDOT) project, the North Roosevelt Blvd. Walls design.


2001. WELCOME BRIDGE INSPECTION
NES expands its services establishing the Bridge Inspection Department.
The NES team grows to six (6) employees.

2002. D/B/A BOLTON PEREZ & ASSOCIATES
NES begins doing business as (d/b/a) Bolton Perez & Associates (BPA).
Our Design Team begins working on its first contract with Miami-Dade County. Meanwhile our CEI Team starts work on the SR 826 (Palmetto Expressway) at NW 36th Street project, which wins an award in 2006.

2003. COATINGS DEPARTMENT
BPA's Coatings Department is established.


2006. BPA ON THE MOVE
BPA is on the move and has now grown to 17 employees. The SR 826 (Palmetto Expressway) at NW 36th Street has concluded, and receives the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association’s (FTBA) 2007 Florida’s Best in Construction, Interchange Award.


2007. EXPANDING PORTFOLIO
BPA is awarded our largest CEI project to date, FDOT District 6’s CEI Residency, a 5-year contract.
This same year our Team starts working on the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) - Miami International Airport (MIA) People Mover project.

2009. ENGINEER OF THE YEAR
John W. Bolton, PE, is presented with the Florida Engineering Society (FES) Miami Chapter’s Engineer of the Year Award.


2011. EXPONENTIAL GROWTH
BPA has almost doubled in size within the last five years with 32 employees on board.
BPA’s CEI Residency Team is also recognized with a 2011 Davis Productivity Award.

2012. WORK ABROAD
Work commences on our first international project located in Foresta, Panama.
The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) SR 874 Reconstruction CEI contract is also awarded to BPA this year.

2015. SR 7 IS UNDERWAY
Our CEI Team begins work on the SR 7 (US-441) Urban Reconstruction project.
The A1A/Collins Avenue Urban Reconstruction Project, under our Miami Beach Drainage Grouping contract, is also awarded the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association’s (FTBA) 2015 Florida’s Best in Construction, Urban Award.

2016. BPA CONTINUES TO EXPAND
BPA expands key staff with the addition of Chief Highway Engineer, Luis Costa, PE, and Chief Bridge Engineer, Luis M. Vargas, PhD, PE, SE.
This same year, BPA opens a branch office in Boca Raton, FL.

2018. FROM D/B/A BPA TO BOLTON PEREZ & ASSOCIATES, INC.
We go from doing business as Bolton Perez & Associates and change our corporate name to officially work as Bolton Perez & Associates, Inc. (BPA).

2019. OUTSTANDING WORK RECOGNIZED
The Baker’s Haulover Bridge on SR A1A / Collins Avenue Rehabilitation project under our Districtwide Bridge Rehabilitation Grouping contract wins both the FTBA 2019 Best in Construction, Bridge Award, and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Miami-Dade Branch 2019 Project of the Year for Category I.
The SR 7 (US-441) Urban Reconstruction project is also completed this year and earns the ACEC-FL & FDOT 2019 Outstanding Roadway Project Award.

2020. PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
The Broward Blvd. PD&E project concludes and earns the ACEC-FL & FDOT 2020 Outstanding PD&E/Planning Project Award. BPA was proud to be a subconsultant having provided bridge concept designs for three viable alternative alignments to increase the level of service for the I-95 Interchange at Broward Blvd. This same year our CEI Team is recognized with the FTBA 2020 Best in Construction, Bridge Award for the SR A1A/MacArthur Causeway East Bridge Rehabilitation.
