Palmetto Expressway Reconstruction at NW 36th Street

This project received the FTBA (Florida’s Best in Construction Interchange Award). This award was presented for quality construction. BPA served as the Prime Consultant providing Construction Engineering Inspection Services (CEI) to the Florida Department of Transportation for the $37M reconstruction of SR 826 over NW 36th Street.  This project included the complete reconstruction of the interchange.  The mainline SR 826 bridge over NW 36th Street was replaced with a single 175′ structural steel girder bridge.  The profile on SR 826 was also raised over 9′ to accommodate the greater beam depth and new clearance criteria.  The project required 10 different construction phases in order to reconstruct the interchange and maintain 4 lanes of traffic in each direction at all times.  This busy expressway is used by an estimated 210,000 motorist each day.
