Seven Mile Bridge

BPA’s Design Team worked on the rehabilitation plans for the substructure of the SR-5/Overseas Highway Bridge. The Seven Mile Bridge, which is a segmental box girder bridge , 6.8 miles long, 39′ wide, carries two lanes of traffic (one each way).

The BPA Inspection Team performed a visual hands-on inspection of the bridge substructure above water in accordance with NBIS and FDOT standards. The inspection focused on the pier columns to identify and measure delaminations, spall and cracks. Also, a written report showing deficiency description, dimensions, location and state conditions was prepared and presented to FDOT District Six. This report was used to prioritize the repairs based on available budget and structural adequacy of the affected members.
