SR 836/NW 57th Avenue Interchange Modification
As part of Miami Dade Expressway Authority’s system improvement, Bolton Perez & Associates completed the design and final contract documents in support of the interim interchange modifications at SR 836/NW 57th Avenue. This $3.2M interchange modification included roadway widening and resurfacing, signing and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, new and modified drainage, retaining walls, bridge widening and over head span and cantilever sign structures.
The bridge work consisted of widening the existing westbound bridge to accommodate a new thru-lane over NW 57th Avenue and adjusting the existing W-S exit ramp. The bridge widening is supported on 24” pile bent piers and consists of three (3) simple AASHTO girder spans with 38’ end spans and 94’-6” main-span supporting a 7” reinforced concrete deck slab. This project provides an important safety improvement to MDX and significantly increases capacity.
