SR 874 Mainline Reconstruction

BPA is providing CEI services for the $46.4 million Design-Build contract with MDX on SR 874.  The project widens a 3.3 mile segment of the Shula Expressway (SR 874) from 4 to 6 lanes between Kendall Drive & the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826).  The improvements increase the capacity of SR 874 mainline by adding an additional lane SB from SR 826 to SW 88th Street and an additional lane NB from the Snapper Creek Expressway (SR 878) north to the Palmetto Expressway. This project will be the last link between the recently constructed FDOT Palmetto Section 2 project and the MDX SR 874 at Killian Parkway Improvements project at the south end.

The work along this segment of SR 874 includes 6 bridge widenings, and railing retrofitting on 4 bridges. Other characteristics of the project include the realignment of the current exit ramp from SR 874 SB to SW 88 Street with 15,000+ SF of MSE wall, the construction of  19’ & 14’ Noise walls adjacent to the reconstructed areas, lighting, drainage improvements, milling and resurfacing of the entire segment, and intersection improvements at SW 88 Street.  The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2013.
